The Gardener Gin, a new addition to the spirits industry, has been launched by the renowned Hollywood actor Brad Pitt in partnership with former Tanqueray master distiller Tom Nichol.
Brad Pitt new gin was created in collaboration with the Perrin family, who owns Château de Beaucastel in Southern Rhône, and Pitt’s winemaking partner. Pitt, who previously worked with the Perrin family on the launch of Fleur de Miraval, a rosé champagne brand, took inspiration from the ‘art de Vivre or the art of living embodied by the French Riviera and created a London Dry gin that celebrates its night and day essence.
The Gardener is said to ‘bottle the essence’ of the French Riviera, with fresh citrus and wild herbs and a combination of juniper, angelica, liquorice, and coriander. The gin is made from wheat in copper stills and includes pink grapefruit, lemon, and sweet and bitter oranges from the Cap d’Antibes in the south of France. Co-founder Matthieu Perrin said, “The gin is created in harmony with the shifts of the season and the exchange of warmth and cold, resulting in a recipe that combines the mystery of nature with the pleasure of knowledge.“
The Gardener Gin is all set to debut at the iconic Carlton Hotel during the upcoming Cannes Film Festival later this month. The Carlton Hotel is reopening after a two-year renovation, and Nichol has collaborated with bartenders to create a Secret Garden cocktail to celebrate the event. Nichol has also partnered with English distillery Harrogate Tipple, The City of London Distillery, and Kansas-based J Rieger & Co. since his retirement from Diageo-owned Tanqueray gin, for which he was awarded the Gin Guild’s Lifetime Achievement Award in May 2015.
The little woman start behind the iconic Harry Potter, Emma Watson recently launched a gin inspired by the Chablis wine region, where her family operates a vineyard.
